
George Van Dyk is a songwriter and producer with over thirty years in the industry. Born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, George now resides in Miami Florida. In 1980 George and his colleagues founded Hotline & PJ Powers, who became one of South Africa’s most successful groups through the 80s, with two gold and four platinum records. In 1985 he wrote the mega cult hit “Jabulani” which propelled the group to super stardom, and for which he won “Best Song Writer of the Year” Award and also “Best Song of the Year” in 1985 from SARIE (South Africa’s Grammy Awards).
In the early 1990s George became in-house producer for RPM records for several years, where he supervised all African music productions. In 1991 he formed the group “Wozani”, writing & producing two number one hits from their debut album, “Dancing in the Moonlight”.
In the late 90s George went on to write and produce the music for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 1996 African Nations Cup and wrote the smash hit ‘Bafana Bafana’, which is South Africa’s football team name, who incidentally went on to win the tournament that year.
From 2000 to 2006 George worked as an Audio Engineer/Producer for The Discovery Channel, where he wrote and produced all the music for the Animal Planet series, King of the Jungle.
